Opening a bank account in Poland as an Erasmus student is relatively straightforward. We recommend Santander Bank, most of our students had their accounts there, so we know that they make whole process move smoothly.

You’ll need the following document:

– Passport or ID card;

– Visa, if you had to get it;

– Student ID card;

– Proof of Address;

– Letter of Invitation from PSW.

Go to a local branch of the bank you’ve chosen. It’s often helpful to make an appointment in advance or check if you can start the process online. Complete the application forms provided by the bank. The bank staff will guide you through the process and help with any specific requirements. Normally banks have English-speaking staff or can provide assistance in other languages.

Yes, there are student discounts available in Poland, including Gdańsk, for various services and products. Students in Poland can often get discounted rates on public transportation. You can also receive discounts for museums, theaters, cinemas, and other cultural or recreational activities. In Gdańsk, places like the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre or the Museum of Gdańsk might offer student rates.

It is best to check for yourself if the service or place you are interesting has student discounts.

You should remember about universal European emergency number – 112. It’s for all emergency services: Police, Fire and Medical.

You can buy a SIM card at various locations, f.e. convenience stores or mobile carrier stores. Poland requires SIM cards to be registered, the process usually involves providing identification (passport or ID card). It is best to buy a prepaid card, so you will pay only for a set amount of talk time, text messages, and data upfront.

You can top-up your card as easily, as you bought the SIM card. Most of banks and mobile network operators now have options to top-up cards online.

Inform us about this situation and we will send you an application to prepare another ID card for you, the fee is 20 PLN.

Many Polish people (especially the youth) know English quite well. However, if you need assistance, you can ask the Student Office for help.

You need to get the pre-approval of your home university and Powiślański University. After that you must prepare the Learning Agreement for the next semester that should be signed and stamped by you, home university and PSW. Then letter of acceptance for the next semester is issued by our International Office. If you are a KA171 student, please check if the PSW has any mobilities to offer for your country.

One of the following issues might have occurred:

  • We read and answer e-mails during office working hours (Mon – Fri form 8:00 – 16:00), usually we answer mails within 3 work days for receiving them.
  • We didn’t receive your message. If you didn’t receive an answer from us within 3 work days after you sent your e-mail, please try contacting us again.
  • Due to the heavy workload, it may take longer than usual to respond to an email. At that time, be patient, and if the matter is urgent, try contacting again.

Acceptance Letter is issued after your home university send us the nomination report. If you are KA131 student, then aprox. 2-3 weeks. If you are KA171 student, then aprox. one week after our Erasmus+ selection committee pick the participants.

Student Mobility for Studies means first and foremost that you came to PSW in order to study. You can have a break only if all your teachers have approved of it and informed the International Office. If you choose to do otherwise you have to accept the consequences (f.e. failing your classes). Please make sure to apply for multiple entrance visa.

We strongly recommend not to make any travel plans before you have your study schedules.
